Bedtime with Gemma Louise

Although we are excited for the New Year and all the wonderful things 2020 brings for us at Elizabeth Scarlett, there is no escaping the dark, cold, winter evenings that January brings! To celebrate the launch of our NEW bedding collection and help us make the most of the hibernation season, we've partnered with some of our favourite ladies to find out their tips and tricks for a peaceful, cosy, and luxurious night's sleep.
This week we chatted with the lovely Gemma Louise who's covetable Instagram feed and blog featuring beauty, lifestyle, and adorable little boy never fails to put a smile on our faces.
What does bedtime look like in your home?
As cosy as possible, particularly on these cold winter nights! Even in summer, I can't sleep without sheets and I love to be snuggled up in bed all night. I love to pamper my skin with lots of skincare treats and then climb into bed, get myself all tucked up and have a quick flick through Instagram or watch a Netflix episode. The perfect end to a day.

Do you have any wind-down rituals you can tell us about?

I can't wind down for bed without showering and giving my skin some much-needed TLC. I can't get into bed feeling dirty, I have to wash the day away first! Not only do I do an extensive skincare routine to treat my face, but I also moisturise my whole body and then I can go to bed feeling fresh and pampered.

What is special to you about your Elizabeth Scarlett Bedding?

I look forward to bedtime every night after running around after my toddler all day, but the Elizabeth Scarlett bedding makes me look forward to getting tucked up in bed even more. The sheets are silky soft and make that moment where your head hits the pillow after a long day feels ten times more luxurious! I still co-sleep with my three year old and even he has said how snuggly mummy's bed is with new covers!

What’s your favourite thing to do in bed?

Definitely cuddle up all cosy with my toddler, bedtime when we're both winding down is a much more relaxed environment where I just get to soak him up, listen to his little chatters and enjoy sleepy snuggles.

Are you a pineapples or palm trees kind of person?

Definitely palm trees! I'm so glad I got the palm tree bedding as it adds a little bit of summer to my bedroom on these cold dark nights. Also, I'm a huge nature lover so any kind of floral/greenery related print is what I'm all about.

Do you prefer weekends well spent at home or away?

I love traveling but nothing beats getting back home and into your own bed. Nothing will ever compare to the feeling of being in your own home and own environment surrounded by all of your favourite things.

Are you a night owl or early bird?

I'm definitely a night owl! I HATE getting up on a morning, I struggle to wake up so much, especially in the colder months. I find it easier to stay up working late when my little boy is asleep in bed as he takes after his mum and loves a lie-in on a morning. It works better for the both of us!

We see fresh and soft sheets as one of life’s little luxuries, what other everyday products do you treasure using?

I definitely do too! As for other products... I definitely treasure using my scented candles. Not only do they make my house smell beautiful but they just add a real homely and cosy vibe that I can't be without. I would also be lost without my hand creams, I wash them a million times a day with a little one and they get so dry, so having one permanently on my bedside table is like a little luxury for my hands. And I can never leave the house without a spritz of a good perfume!
