From my very first visit to Kenya I was captured by its beauty and the majesty of the nature there - it's been an ongoing source of inspiration for me since and propelled my desire to ensure we protect these beautiful places and the wildlife within for generations to come.
As we celebrate Elizabeth Scarlett's 10th anniversary, it felt like the perfect time to return, with a collection dedicated to the extraordinary landscapes and wildlife that first inspired our story. We travelled 250km from Nairobi to the foothills of Mount Kenya to Enasoit, an enchanting camp and wildlife reserve where animals roam freely across its golden plains and grasslands.
Guests at Enasoit don’t just experience the beauty of nature - they help restore it, from supporting the regeneration of trees and wildlife habitats to giving back to the local community. You can feel a deep sense of love, respect and appreciation for the animals that roam freely around its borders in every detail of this special place.
We shot most of this campaign at the watering hole in front of the camp; a hive of wildlife activity visited daily by elephants, giraffes, Grevy’s zebras, Buffalo, lions and much more, this magical spot is known as the ‘sitting safari’, where the animals come to you. Setting up chairs, paint palettes and picnic rugs at sunrise, it was here that we began every morning.
Between spotting wildlife, we couldn’t resist capturing a few quick snaps on the back of our safari truck. The hills of Laikipia provided the most perfect backdrop for these relaxed moments in-between, chatting and basking in the sun-drenched beauty and tranquility of the surroundings.
Golden hour is when you really feel nature come to life, and an incredible sense of calm descends - these pictures capture the breathtaking moment where the whole savannah is bathed in the most magical sheen of light.
When the sun sank below the horizon each day, it was back to camp to share meals and memories around the fire. Nightfall brings an entirely different magic to this area, where beneath vast star-flecked skies, the only sounds to be heard as you drift to sleep are the gentle hum of cicadas and whispering of trees - interrupted by the occasional bout of lion activity.
By the time it came to say our goodbyes, we were brimming with appreciation for this beautiful place and the Enasoit team, including Ina, Karen and Peter - who work so hard to protect it. I feel so proud to play a small part in securing the future of wild places like these.
