Behind our Wild Autumn Shoot

Behind our Wild Autumn Shoot

Creating our campaigns is one of the highlights of every season here at Elizabeth Scarlett. As one of the most artful times of the year - ablaze with crackling leaves, burnished autumn palettes and gold-tinged skies - our autumn campaign called for something special. So with our creative team in tow, we set off to Norfolk one wet English weekend to bring it to life.

‘Soft but beautiful, visually striking and incorporating blooming flowers’ was the vision of our moodboard - and we selected a Victorian greenhouse for our canvas, blooming with nature creeping in between the walls and lush canopies lovingly tended to by the owners.

Laden with photography equipment, floating fabrics and armfuls of our autumn designs - the team started early to make the most of the dawn hues.  Gloomy skies were less than ideal for an English summer, but swathes of light streaming in through the greenhouse’s floor-to-ceiling window created a perfect palette for our autumn mood.

Washed in this mix of luminous light and soft shadow, the velvet jewel tones of our Botanical Romance collection came to life beautifully. Alex and Harriet, our model and photographer, quickly set about creating the mood, capturing the romantic, nostalgic feeling that we’d envisioned (with the help of some vintage wicker chairs and plenty of trailing florals and botanicals).

Styling inspiration reflected the free-spirited theme of the designs with a soft palette, fluttering, elegant hemlines, and dresses kindly loaned by our friends at Nobody’s Child. Feminine yet bold, we layered up delicate frills with touches of embroidered texture and hints of autumn colour.

After our florals, it was on to shooting our Peacocks. Inspired by a secret garden with decorative peacocks and sacred hearts, these designs couldn’t have been more perfectly suited for our setting - and the intricate golden accents perfectly reflected in the greenhouse’s trellises and ornate, decorative details.

A dress change, and contrasting pop of pink, was required to shoot our bolder Call of The Wild story. Timed with an unexpected patch of sunshine, and made even more magical with Alex’s graceful, effortless modelling, our Tiger pouch, washbag and totes resulted in some of the most beautiful pictures of the shoot (and a few happy tears from Elizabeth!).

Last but not least, we wrapped up by shooting our free-flying Cranes in new midnight and vivid orange velvet colourways - and made the most of the setting sun to create dramatic shadows that perfectly captured the unique beauty of this graceful and vibrant bird.

With so many beautiful images to choose from - it was finally time to pack up our bags, lenses and equipment and head back home for some well-earned rest. We’re so proud to be able to share the final results with you, and we hope you love our autumn story as much as we loved creating it!
