Protecting Turtle Hatchlings

Protecting Turtle Hatchlings

As a result of human ocean pollution and beach disturbance, just 0.1% of hatchlings in the Dutch Caribbean currently make it to adulthood.

This year, we’re once again partnering with our friends at Blue Marine Foundation to bring them one step closer to a safer future. And that’s where our Turtle Conservation collection comes in.

Protecting 100 turtle hatchlings with every piece sold, this very special collection helps to ensure the best chances at life for precious baby turtles as they make their first steps towards the sea.

Our work to date...

Since the launch of this collaboration in 2021, we’ve proudly given up to two million turtles a fighting chance.* Each year, we’re committed to raising more than £42,000 for Blue Marine Foundation. These donations fund a dedicated turtle ranger program in the Dutch Caribbean and Ascension Islands. Working tirelessly, these rangers are committed to protecting endangered nests from dangers, preserving beaches and guiding baby turtles through the early stages of life.

Turtles play an incredibly important role in the underwater world; from providing key habitats for other threatened marine life to balancing the nutrients of the delicate beach ecosystem and sustaining the food web. I’m so excited that with your help, we’ll be able to do our own special bit for this species."

*Each year, Elizabeth Scarlett commits a minimum of £42,000 to fund turtle conservation projects in Ascension and the Dutch Caribbean. This works out as £2.10 from the sale of each item. The commitment includes funding for five turtle rangers during nesting seasons, as well as for signage and education in the local communities. These teams help protect approximately 2,033,043 turtle hatchlings per year.
